Earlier this month we launched our first course outside the Traffic Generation Masterclass. This first individual course is all about Twitter – and it is awesome: The Awesome Twitter Course.
Many of you have asked us for more information about this course: Why we think Twitter is so important for Social Media marketing and what exactly can you expect in the course. So, here is a little more information about the course and why we created it.
We here at The Social Ms are huge fans of Twitter. There are a couple of reasons for that. Not the least of them is that Twitter was the network that taught us marketing. But there are many more reasons why not only us but most of the big name social media marketers are also heavy Twitter users. Here are some of the reasons:
- you can reach almost any niche and target audience on Twitter
- you can grow on Twitter without a huge budget; you just need to know how to do it and some time
- conversations on Twitter are free for you to join
- you can reach out to influencers and get them to take action if you know how to
- you can even use Twitter as a starting point to grow on other social networks, too
These and more we explain in more depth in the “Awesome Twitter course”.
Before you read on - we have various resources that show you exactly how to use social networks to gain massive traffic and leads. For instance, check out the following:

But the “Awesome Twitter course” is not about theory; it is all about getting you on your road to success. We will not only teach you one aspect of Twitter success; our aim is to guide you from the first steps to mastery of Twitter functionality.
It starts with your Twitter account
Far too many Twitter users struggle to gain followers, for the simple reason that their Twitter account is not worth to be followed. In the “Awesome Twitter Course,” we explain what it takes to show what you are interested in and what people can expect from you if they follow you, and we show you how to provide real value on your Twitter account. Plus we talk about the importance of content for Twitter marketing success and teach you how you can grow your account by using other peoples’ great content – and how to use this growth to gain attention for your content.
Building an Audience
Even with the perfect Twitter account that is worth to be followed, many people on Twitter struggle to reach that first milestone of a couple of hundred or even thousands of Twitter followers. They provide value on their account – and still fail to grow because no one notices their great tweets.
We show you a variety of ways to get the attention of people from your target audience on Twitter: We talk about the follow-unfollow algorithm, about conversations and the benefit of lists and likes for growing an audience. And we tell you how to optimize your activity outside of Twitter to gain a following on Twitter. We explain the dangers of bad targeting (or the total lack of targeting) and teach you how to target exactly the right people who want your tweets and are likely to engage with them – and who you wish to connect to.
Optimize your Activity
Now, many of you may already be tweeting and providing value and still not see the success you are looking for. We teach you how to optimize your activity for more impact. We tell you how you can effectively get other people on Twitter to tweet your content and engage with your tweets – even influencers from your niche.
We also talk about the optimal frequency of posting and how to manage to be active on Twitter all day long, even if you have a day job that takes up most of your time.
Analyze your Twitter Success
Are you still flying blind on Twitter? Do you know how many people retweeted your tweets, how many favorited and how many new followers you got? If yes, that is great if not we tell you where and how to find out what is going on. We also show you how to figure out if your targeting is wrong – and of course, we tell you how to target the right people.
Tools, tools, tools
There are many actions on Twitter where tools come in handy. Apart from scheduling your daily tweets with Buffer: Did you know you can set up endless queues of your evergreen content? Do you know the best tools to help you with finding great accounts to follow? There are several, some come with dangers, and some follow a slightly different strategy than others. We tried them all, and we tell you what you can do with them.
More Twitter functions
Are you already using Twitter polls? We love them. Do you know how to use @mentions on Twitter to grow your account? But they are only one function, there is so much more going on with Twitter. You may not like automated direct messages or welcome tweets – but you should still know what you can do with them. They can be a valuable marketing instrument – you may decide against it, but you should do so knowingly and not from pure ignorance.

What Twitter is to us and what it can be to you
Twitter is and has been our most important marketing channel. We grew over 20 accounts on various topics when we were still running the publishing platform exploreB2B. We used Twitter to bring The Social Ms’ Blog to a considerable audience in a couple of months. We are generating leads from Twitter and even making sales. And all this knowledge we put into the “Awesome Twitter Course” – for you to profit from our successes and failures.
It took us years to figure it all out; you can now learn it in a couple of weeks.
Like all our courses the “Awesome Twitter Course” comes with a forum. We encourage you to use it to get in touch with us: Ask us questions, tell us what you are missing and what knowledge we should add. We are here to help you find your way to success with Social Media.
